that inferno logo looks like a fire safety logo
a firefighter dog?
it's funny but i would refuse to wear a jersey with that logo

I'm going with the buck toothed Tornado for this one.

that's just deciding which one is less uglier... i agree with the kyle.. i'd refuse to wear such an inferno-logo jersey....

they could have such a better logo with the name inferno, but they use a dog. that doesn't make sense.

i just checked out chris creamer and some teams actually have some decent logos
my pick to win the tourney's been narrowed down to three
Augusta Lynx
Pensacola Ice Pilots
and the Alaska Aces
the greenville grrrowls logo is just dumb
and just out of curiosity
why is it the EAST coast hockey league and AMERICAN hockey league
in the american there's canadian teams and in the ECHL, it doesn't get much western than alaska

This stuff cracks me up so I had to respond. For one thing, Canada is part of North America. Or so it was last I checked.

Second, while it's true at one point ECHL did stand for East Coast Hockey League, this is no longer the case. The league is simply called the ECHL and the letters are not an acronym.

Think of it like ESPN. No one knows what it stands for anymore because it doesn't matter. (For the record, it was the Entertainment & Sports Programming Network. You pick up crazy crap like that working in TV.)

Anyway, just thought I could clear that up for you.

Thanks for the comments, everybody. And why so harsh on the Inferno logo? You have to remember these are minor league logos. Gotta think of things in a totally different context.

cyclones get my vote...looks just like my home towns hockey logo

I don't think the greenville grrrowl is even in this league anymore

Wow, what an opening match!

This tournament should be fun. Anyone can see a great logo and vote for that, but it takes some time and thought to pick which is less awful out of two brutal ones. I'm going with the flaming dog. The font on the other one with the mix of upper and lower case letters bothered me.

Listowel, miller06? Wow. Hello from Walkerton! Small world.

oh right i forgot that america could even be brazil or anywhere on this side of the world
but the echl still doesn't make sense

if you look at the dog...you'll notice that its a dalmatian...and dalmatians are known as being firehouse dogs (they led the horse-drawn fire wagons to the fire clearing the way for them...and also did rescue missions in the rubble etc)...so ya..it does make sense...but cyclones win this one...even if the inferno used to be the canucks echl affiliate

im going with the inferno with this one, better graphics and it does make sense.

is that a cyclone or a hell-bent or deformed slinky?

greyraven8 said...

have to go lesser of the 2 evils - the inferno one.

i think 'the hockey news' some years ago once had the cyclones voted as one of the top worst logos; i agreed with them then and now.

The Kyle said...

i nvr said the dog didn't have anything to do with inferno, but it isn't a good logo
and on a side note, why would a team with the name INFERNO want to have a "firefighter" (something that fights fires) as their logo?

Snarf said...

While both logos are awful, both names are stupid too. Inferno is just a stupid name for a sports team. And is Cyclones the only word begainning with "C" they could think of for the team name in Cincinnati? I really can't imagine they have too many cyclones in Ohio, so I am guessing they just wanted something beginning with a "C".

A little background for ya...Columbia SC is known as "the Hot Spot of the Carolinas", Esp. in summer...it gets danged hot...like an Inferno...also the city was burned by Sherman after the Civil War...another Inferno...Columbia's secondary logo used to be a flaming "I"...now it's a firefighter's helmet and crossed axes...and yeah, dalmations are associated with firefighters. Just curious what a bucktoothed tornado has to do with Cincinatti...other than tornados suck up anything in their path and the Cincinatti Cyclones attendance also sucks!!! Inferno over Cyclones...no contest!

ITS CINCINNATI!!!!
No double T there!

my vote goes to the cyclones.

My vote goes to the infernos. I like the logo better because it is a lot clearer and easier to read than the Cyclones logo. They should have chosen another color for the team name. There is too much red in that logo, makes it difficult to read!

nothing blows like a cyclown. my vote goes for the inferno

The Cy-Clowns suck and I've hated their logo since the IHL days. My vote to Columbia.

First of all...the question about the AHL having Canadian teams in it.

Since when is this league called the "North American Hockey League"??? (or NAHL)

Its the AHL, American Hockey league, and Im pretty damn sure they meant it orginially as an AMERICAN (there is only one country that can claim to be AMERICAN - South and "north" america or known as the Americas, or otherwise known as the "New World - Americas)

Next...Im sorry, but Im the die-hard Cyclones fan that will stand up to any critics on my team, but the person that said that Twister looks like a slinky....thats funny stuff right there. I got a laugh out of that.

Lastely, I like the Inferno logo, however, people need to take into consideration that the RED backround on the Cyclones logo isnt all that representative of the Cincinnati logo. Its just a backround they placed on there. The clones are more commonly known for black and white, with red, yellow and grey (gray?) as secondary colors.

Come on though people....Clones (or slinkies) all the wayyyy!!!

i understand why the red would make it harder to read BUT usually when you see the Cyclones' logo its got a white background, not a red one.

what difference does it make if their are Canadian teams in the AHL, there are American teams in the CHL (canadian hockey league).
